Let’s Talk About It
There are plenty of places to read about assessments, interventions and the evidence behind them. There are fewer places to talk openly about what it feels like to work in speech and language therapy: the uncertainty, the mistakes, the feedback that stays with you and the times when the work becomes too much.
That is what Let’s Talk About It is for.
In this blog series, I’ll share my thoughts on the parts of our profession that we do not always learn from a textbook, and that we can sometimes be too polite to discuss. I’ll draw on research, my own experience and the experiences shared with me by others. I’ll try to be helpful and honest, and critical when something deserves a closer look.
Expect posts about being a newly qualified therapist, making mistakes, receiving feedback, burnout and everything in between. These will be my views, shaped by what I have learnt so far and open to changing as I learn more.
My hope is that this series gives us room to reflect, question and have conversations we might otherwise avoid.
So, let’s talk about it.
